Wear test on 28 cultivars of St. Augustinegrass, University of Florida Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, Davie, FL, USA. The finer textured cultivars, that is those with highest shoot density, had the best wear tolerance. Floratam had poor wear tolerance. Therefore, statements that St. Augustinegrass has poor wear tolerance may be biased because of using coarser cultivars such as Floratam.
