Spot Sprayer:  Punta Gorda, Florida

Babcock Ranch, the first solar town being developed in the United States in Punta Gorda, FL; is seeking a full-time, dependable Spot Sprayer for our Sod Farm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Spot Sprayer is responsible for mixing Herbicide chemicals and water in sprayer tank.
  • Identify and spray target weeds
  • Performs routine inspection of all spraying equipment
  • May need to manipulate nozzles, tubes, or hoses during spray application.
  • Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for operating motors or machinery on some spray equipment.
  • May need to clean and service tools and machinery.
  • Regular in person attendance is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skill Set:

  • Complete knowledge of chemical applications and equipment is required
  • Must have completed training requirements as demanded by the state and federal governments including those required by OSHA Hazard Communications Standards.
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognize hazards

Education and/or Experience:

  • Certificate from College or technical school; or one year (+) related experience and/or training.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical activities required daily will consist of standing and walking throughout the Sod Farm, bending stooping and kneeling.
  • The associate is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • The associate may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Lifting overhead and push/pull move lighter objects.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
