Production Manager: Council Growers (Central Florida)

Council Growers in Ruskin, Florida (just south of Tampa) is looking for an experienced, team-oriented individual to oversee all production aspects of a fast-paced  sod farm.  Must be an energized and motivated people person, a team player and a leader who can communicate and collaborate in a team environment.

Responsibilities: 

The right candidate will be able to:

  • Uphold and build a team environment.
  • Train and direct supervision of crew in all procedures and processes related to production and harvesting and logistics.
  • Ensure enforcement and compliance of WPS and all other safety protocols.
  • Accurately and consistently complete all paperwork, including maintenance logs, chemical and fertilizer applications records, harvest reports, and calendars.
  • Plan all aspects of production from fertility, weed, disease and insect management
  • Assign and schedule daily tasks for your production team.
  • Support and assist with Sales/Service and Farm Admin as needed

Requirements

  • Five years of turf farm management experience
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of Farm Mechanics
  • Basic understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs
  • Prefer a 4-year degree with emphasis in Agronomy or Turf Grass Management
  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to work hours needed throughout the seasons.

Physical Demands & Work Environments/Conditions

  • Must be able to see, hear, talk, sit, walk, push, pull, twist, lift, squat, and stand. Must be able to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in hot and humid conditions as well as inside an office setting.
